By the stone adoption, volunteers take upon themselves the commitment to visit the stones regularly during the following year until the next Yom ha-Shoah and to clean them so that the information on the stones remains easily legible. The project caught a lot of attention since the day it was launched and we believe that it will soon lead to a continuous care of the legibility of the stones. The adoptees take care either of the stones of their relatives or the Stolpersteine located in places near their place of residence. Thus, the project helps to maintain the awareness of family history as well as the awareness of the history of the place where the school children live. http://www.lauder.cz/docs/ls_stolpersteiny_1617310677.pdf

http://www.stolpersteine.eu/
An art project by Gunter Demnig that commemorates the victims of national socialism, keeping alive the memory of all Jews, Roma and Sinti, homosexuals, dissidents, Jehovah´s witnesses and victims of euthanasia who were deported and exterminated. During the Second World War, almost 80,000 Jews from the territory of today’s Czech Republic were murdered. Most of them were deported to the Terezín ghetto and from there to the extermination camps. Exact addresses are usually only available to Jews from Prague and come from the registration of Jews, which took place in the Protectorate since the autumn of 1941.
