Kr\u00e1le Ji\u0159\u00edho 23<br \/>\nTransport N, no. 327\u00a0(17. 12. 1941, Prague -&gt; Terez\u00edn)<br \/>\nTransport Aa, no. 58\u00a0(11. 03. 1942, Terez\u00edn -&gt; Izbica)<br \/>\nMurdered<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.holocaust.cz\/en\/database-of-victims\/victim\/131302-frantisek-vrba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Holocaust database<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He was born on the 19<sup>th<\/sup> August 1909 in \u00davaly (Prague-East District). He was\u00a0 the youngest child of Bohumil Gottlieb Vrba and Ida Vrbov\u00e1 (born Bondy). The eldest child, his sister, Milada, was born in 1907, and his elder brother, Ji\u0159\u00ed, in 1908. His sister married Karl Popper and their daughter, Sonja, was born in 1931.<br \/>\nBy the time of his marriage to Elly Taussigov\u00e1 on the 17th February 1935 he was a qualified (JUDR) lawyer. In the late 1930s he held a position with the\u00a0 Prague City Council.<\/p>\n<p>His son, Ivan, was born on the 13th October 1936.<br \/>\nWith his wife, Elly, and son, Ivan, he\u00a0 was deported from Prague to Terez\u00edn on the 17<sup>th<\/sup> December 1941.\u00a0 Subsequently, the three were forced on Transport Aa of the 11<sup>th<\/sup> March 1942 from Terez\u00edn to the Izbica Ghetto in south east Poland.<\/p>\n<p>As a relatively\u00a0 young man so in Nazi terms a <em>productive<\/em> person he may if he reached Izbica have been sent to a nearby labour\u00a0 camp in Kranystaw county in south east Poland or if transported to the Belzec extermination camp used there for labour and later exterminated there. There is also the possibility that he was one of the five hundred Jews from Transport Aa who were marched on the 18<sup>th<\/sup> March 1942, to the settlement of\u00a0 Kra\u015bniczyn\u00a0 and later exterminated in the Sobibor or Majdanek extermination camps.<\/p>\n<p>His parents perished in Riga, Latvia, on a date unknown in 1942. His sister , brother-in-law and niece lost their lives in Auschwitz in February 1943. It is now known that his elder brother, George Ji\u0159\u00ed Vrba, survived the Holocaust initially as an illegal Jewish immigrant in Palestine, and died in the city of Hamilton, in Ontario, Canada in 1992 ,having emigrated with his wife, Elsa, and daughter Sonja, and son, Peter, to Canada in 1949.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Address:\u00a0VELETR\u017dN\u00cd 196\/17, PRAGUE 7 Born 19. 08. 1909 Last residence before deportation: Prague XIII Address\/place of registration in the Protectorate: Prague XII, n\u00e1m.
